BUTTERFLY

This resin piece relates to the concept of death and the preservation of time. In response to Roland Barthes, Camera Lucida Reflections on Photography,  I used the casting process as a three-dimensional image.

Tracing the contradicting animate object to represent the preservation of life yet, in reality, be an inanimate object. Progressively directing towards memory and perception through the matter of preservation.

It was here I explored how transparent resin presented such a spectacle of perspectives and emphasis of interaction with light and form.
