Balloons 05
‘Balloons 05’, video responds to Freud’s ‘Death Drive’ theory. Using the symbolic objects of balloons to represent the psyches primal impulse of fear and danger through the structural arrangement and tense anticipation for sudden sound.
My intention was to communicate an ambivalent relationship between the contrasting Freudian forces of pain and pleasure. Here, I have altered the function and purpose of balloons materiality to theoretically engage issues of mental health challenges in society.
